Celebrating the Life of the Dorje Dradül
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Parinirvana of the Vidyadhara, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, commemorated on April 4. It is a day for the Shambhala sangha to gather together to celebrate the life and teachings of the Vidyadhara.
Shambhala centres around the world will host community gatherings to commemorate this occasion. The intention is for the sangha to do practices we have received from the Vidyadhara, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, particularly, The Sadhana of Mahamudra.

The Shambhala Archives has once again prepared a video of select teachings by the Vidyadhara specially for the occasion of Parinirvana Day. For this year’s celebration the Shambhala Archives is offering Mahamudra II—the sequel to last year’s video. In addition, you are welcome to offer Discovering Elegance—an amazing 16mm film of Chögyam Trungpa and his students demonstrating the art of oriental design, as they prepare an environmental art exhibit held at the Los Angeles Institute of Contemporary Art in 1981. Captions/subtitles are available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and more.

Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche in the West
Major events in Trungpa Rinpoche’s life in Tibet were described some time ago in panels created by the Konchok Foundation for students in the West.
These panels are all now available for Shambhala centres to use to mark the 30th Anniversary of Trungpa Rinpoche’s Parinirvana. So that they do not require a lot of expense or space. they are sized to be printed at either full 22″ x 34″ or 50% 11″ x 17″.
Two additional panels were recently requested by Surmang Monastery, which highlight Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche’s activity in the West in both Tibetan and English.

Parinirvana Day is traditionally the time when the Shambhala Archives raises funds to support its ongoing work.
